Illustrations for The Institute Letter, Spring 2025 – Princeton

Marcella was commissioned by Genevieve Looby, editor of publications at The Institute Letter (Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton), to create the cover and spot illustrations for the Spring 2025 issue.

This issue features a reflective piece on a complex world where science chose the beagle in the pursuit of progress.

Marcella was invited to contribute to the project due to her distinctive focus on nature, animals, and patterns. Genevieve was particularly drawn to her vibrant use of color and expressive illustrative style.

The cover artwork, Atomic Beagle, is a hand-drawn piece created using ink, Kuretake watercolours, Caran d’Ache Luminance coloured pencils, and Pigma Micron brush pens.
